Sinus Lift

Sometimes when implants are needed to replace teeth in the molar or premolar region of the upper jaw, there is not enough bone height due to the location and size of the sinus cavity that is located just above these teeth. In these cases, a sinus lift procedure may be necessary to establish enough bone to allow for an implant. This is done by grafting bone along the floor of the sinus between the bone and the sinus membrane. This procedure only changes the anatomy of the sinus slightly, and does not alter the function or drainage of the sinus.
